Northwest Arkansas Dazed, Smith Gets No-Hitter Sunday, September 16th , 2046 It was a fantastic day for Montgomery Biscuits starter Eric Smith and a lousy day for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. The Montgomery hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Naturals, as the Biscuits cruised to a 18-0 win. When it was all over, Smith was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter. "The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," Smith said later. He rang up 19 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk while shutting Northwest Arkansas down at Arvest Ballpark. Thus far this season Smith has posted a 11-3 record, started 28 games, struck out 156 batters in 145 innings and compiled a 2.42 ERA. |
