He may only be 24, but Carlos Salcido of the Springfield Cardinals has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the National League.

The reliever was today named the NL Reliever of the Year winner for 2046.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 7 saves in 45 relief appearances and 92 strikeouts in 68.1 innings. He had a record of 8-2 to go with his 1.58 ERA.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 30. Alex Villarreal of the Jacksonville Suns finished second in voting with 15 first place votes, while Matt Wass of the San Jose Giants finished third with 2 first place votes.
