Reds Deal Giants 5-3 Loss
|
With third baseman Dave Barefoot leading the charge, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5-3, at AT&T Park. Barefoot, who finished 4th in the NL in extra base hits with 76 last year, was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Eddie Grape picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 4-2. Ryan Terlizzi collected save number 8.
With Cincinnati leading 2-1 in the top of the third, Barefoot came up to bat against San Francisco pitcher Josh Lister. Barefoot hit a splitter to center for a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Reds on top, 4-1.
"I had some good swings out there," said Barefoot.
