2-Year Contract for Wakamatsu

Fans hailed the signing of Unkei Wakamatsu today as the Chicago Cubs starting pitcher came to terms with the club.
Set to make $56,000,000 over the upcoming 2 years, Wakamatsu signed primarily out of loyalty to the organization, thrilling the most diehard supporters who think there isn't much loyalty in a market driven by free agency.

Major League Baseball's Rule 5 draft will be held today. General managers should ensure that they have made all necessary roster moves prior to the start of the draft!
Rule 5 Draft Rules --Only teams with empty slots on their expanded rosters can select a player in the draft. --Players with more than 4 years of professional experience are eligible to be selected, unless they are protected on a team's expanded roster. --Players drafted at the age of 18 or younger are protected for one additional year. They are eligible if they have more than 5 years of professional service. --Each selected player must be kept on the selecting team's major league roster for the entire year, or be returned to his original team. --Even if a selected player is subsequently traded, he must remain on that team's major league roster for the entire year.

Twins Ink Deal with C Molina

In what local scribes are hailing as a huge move for the team's future, the Twins inked a $10,600,000 deal with catcher José Molina.
Team officials expect Molina to fill an immediate void on the roster and felt the deal would solidify them as a playoff contender.
