Orioles Win, 5-2, at New York
|
The Baltimore Orioles downed the New York Mets, 5-2. The hitting star was designated hitter Jason Hayes. Hayes went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Orioles. Baltimore starter Ryan Sobocinski was credited with the win after throwing 116 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-5. Bobby Marble closed it out for his 1st save.
Baltimore took a 5-2 lead on Hayes's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Josh Taylor in the top of the seventh, propelled Baltimore to the win.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Baltimore manager Mike Neugebauer. "It's usually not just one thing."
The victory puts Baltimore at 17-26.
