Braves Stun Phillies, 7-5
|
Eric Katz had a good game, but he could not keep the Philadelphia Phillies from falling, 7-5, to the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. The Philadelphia left fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs in the loss. The Braves, at 26-24, lead by one game in their division.
Mexia, Texas-born Rich Stinson came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Braves trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Atlanta on top.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Stinson. "And not try to do too much."
