Mets Fall Short, 1-0, at Cincinnati
|
The Cincinnati Reds topped the New York Mets, 1-0, in National League action at Great American Ball Park. The standout performance belonged to Cincinnati pitcher and Cottonwood Heights, Utah, native Bryce Schimmoeller. Schimmoeller got the win, improving to 3-5. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Schimmoeller allowed no runs. The Reds sport a record of 21-31.
Had Jon Ledesma not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Ledesma hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Reds.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Schimmoeller.
