Cardinals Get One-Run Win at Milwaukee
|
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-4, at Miller Park. Pat Sutton, in particular, was impressive. He was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Tsugunosuke Murakami was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, with 6 walks and 7 strikeouts. Mike Pemble got credit for the save for St. Louis. It was his 9th of the year.
In the first inning, Sutton had a 3-run home run for St. Louis. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Cardinals on top, 3-0.
In postgame comments to the St. Louis Chronicle, Sutton said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
St. Louis now sits in second place in the National League Central Division at 25-25.
