Phillies Go Down to Defeat, 5-1
|
The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Atlanta Braves starter Casey Jones turned in a top-notch performance against the Philadelphia Phillies at Turner Field. The result was a win for the Braves, 5-1. Jones, now 6-1, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The save was credited to Victor Munoz, his 6th.
Early in the game, second baseman Xavier Davis had a 3-run home run for Atlanta. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Braves on top, 3-0.
Jones told a Atlanta Times reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
