Mariners Down Red Sox, 8-6
|
The Seattle Mariners knocked off the Boston Red Sox, 8-6, at Fenway Park. Kaeo Zirpoli was a big reason Seattle won. The center fielder was 5 for 7 with a home run, a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The winner was Victor Cervantes in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Elijah Daniels took the loss. Greg Burngooch converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Zirpoli had a game-changing home run in the top of the 15th. On a 1-1 fastball from Danny Klomp, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Mariners a 8-6 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Zirpoli.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Mariners manager Aaron Schiff. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
The victory gives Seattle a record of 30-25.
