White Sox Stay Hot With 4-2 Win
|
Chicago White Sox starter Xenophon Valvis turned in a top-notch performance against the Oakland Athletics at U.S. Cellular Field. The result was a win for the White Sox, 4-2. In 8 innings, Valvis surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The save went to Rhett Beers, number 4 for him.
The White Sox got a big at-bat from right fielder Steve Castleberry. For the game, Castleberry was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Chicago a 2-0 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chicago manager Jake Turnbull.
