Chicago Wins, Rosenberry goes 3-for-4
|
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Houston Astros, 9-0. Doing his part was center fielder Randy Rosenberry, who was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Matt McAtee, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 3-2. Chicago leads the American League Central Division by 3½ games.
With Chicago leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Rosenberry came up to bat against Houston pitcher Salisbury Swanson. Rosenberry hit a splitter to left for a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season put the White Sox on top, 3-0.
Said losing manager Dave DaSilva: "Give the White Sox credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
