Nationals Defeat Pirates, 3-1
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Washington Nationals starter Lionardo Rabelo turned in an exceptional performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park, resulting in a Washington win, 3-1. The Pirates, at 26-34, have lost 5 in a row.
Washington used the clutch hitting of Dave Vargas to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the 13th inning to give the Nationals the lead, 3-1. For the game, Vargas had 1 single and 1 double in 6 at-bats.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Rabelo. "I like it."
