Orioles Sneak By Phillies, 5-4
|
The Baltimore Orioles weathered a fine game by Philadelphia catcher Chef Belew to upend the Phillies, 5-4, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Belew went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Brad Jonas, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 2.2 innings. Baltimore has now won 3 in a row.
Robert Handy was the walk-off hero for Baltimore. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Orioles catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"Put a star next to this win," Handy said.
