Nationals Win at Cincinnati, 4-3
|
The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 4-3. On the mound for Washington was left-hander Jaden Asante, who played a pivotal role in the win. Asante went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-9. With the win over Cincinnati, the Nationals improved to 31-39.
Had John Sanders not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Sanders hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Nationals.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Cincinnati manager Jimmy Silveira II said following the tough loss.
