Mets Lose to Diamondbacks, 4-2
|
The first-place Arizona Diamondbacks picked up another win.
Behind an impressive start by Murphy Quirk, Arizona beat New York, 4-2. Quirk got the win, improving to 9-3. He allowed 4 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. Quirk allowed 2 runs.
Mike Mentzer went 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Arizona. The 23-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ben Dicks. It was his 24th walk of the season.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Arizona manager Jose Quintana.
The Diamondbacks lead the National League West Division by 10 games.
