Nationals Suffer 5-3 Loss to Philadelphia
|
Citizens Bank Park was the site of a competitive game between the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies.
The Philadelphia Phillies topped the Washington Nationals, 5-3, the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Eric Katz. On the day, Katz belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Phillies. Matt Evans, the winner, improved to 4-6. He held the Nationals to 3 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 2.
Katz had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 changeup from Rafael Silva, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Phillies a 5-3 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Katz.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Katz.
The Phillies sport a record of 30-44.
