Division Series Game 1 Victory for Wakamatsu and Chicago
|
The Chicago Cubs started the Division Series in dominant fashion today, blowing out the visiting Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field by a score of 10-3 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Cubs left-hander Unkei Wakamatsu turned in a fine performance. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball.
Elijah Campbell, the Chicago third baseman, contributed a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 3-0, Cubs. For the game, Campbell was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
"I like our moxie," said Cubs manager Mergatroid Skittle.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
