Metzener Now 6-9 After Subduing Cardinals
|
Busch Stadium was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 2-0. Miami pitcher and Boa Vista, Brazil, native Timóteo Metzener led the way. The save went to Adam Thomas, his 2nd this season.
Metzener, the Miami right-hander, went 8 innings, allowing no runs on 7 hits. He collected 10 strikeouts.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said St. Louis skipper Jeff Jones Jr., "and it cost us."
With the win, the Marlins improved to 40-41.
