Woods Jr. Lays Hammer Down in 6-1 Win
|
James Woods Jr. was outstanding against Washington. The right-hander, who is on pace to win 22 games this season, had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Phillies 6-1 win. The 4th-place Phillies now have a win-loss record of 35-46.
Woods Jr., the winning pitcher, raised his record to 11-3. In 8 innings of work, Woods Jr. gave up 1 run on 2 hits, while racking up 11 Ks. He kept the Nationals punchless, offensively.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Woods Jr. told the Philadelphia Daily News.
