Blue Jays Upend Red Sox, 8-5
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox.
The Toronto Blue Jays overcame a good performance by Boston left fielder Kevin McCormic Jr. to knock off Boston, 8-5, at Fenway Park. McCormic Jr. was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Hoof Harted picked up the save, his 14th.
Jon Schick, the Toronto right fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to make the score 8-5, Blue Jays. For the game, Schick was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"This team is on a mission," said Schick, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
Toronto improves to 57-27 with the win. They lead their division by 10 games.
