Padres Earn 2-1 Win Versus Giants
|
The San Francisco Giants wasted an inspired, 7.2-inning effort from starter Keith Kidd, falling 2-1 to the San Diego Padres at AT&T Park. Arturo Diaz collected save number 14. The Padres go to 43-43, putting them third in the National League West Division.
Had Manny Vergara not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Vergara hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Padres.
"We'll hit the hot tub tonight in good spirits tonight," said Vergara.
