8-5 Loss Extends Seattle Losing Streak
|
The California Angels overcame a fine performance by Seattle designated hitter Floyd-William Goof to defeat the Mariners, 8-5, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Goof went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Allen Weaver earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-2. The save went to Dave Thomas, his 6th this season.
Rusty Ney, who is tied for 9th in the AL in bases on balls with 50, aided the California cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll savor this win," Ney told the California Today, "then get ready for the next game."
The losing streak for Seattle has now reached 6 games.
