Mariners Rebuff Twins, 3-1
|
Gerbrand van de Bilt could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Minnesota Twins lost, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. The Mariners raised their record to 43-47.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from shortstop Harutomi Matsubara. For the game, Matsubara was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 17th double of the season gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Matsubara.
