Nationals Drop Braves, 4-3
|
The Atlanta Braves got a superb performance from pitcher Curt Stevens, but the Washington Nationals still won the game, 4-3. Stevens threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The win puts the Nationals at 40-54, while the Braves drop to 54-42.
Washington used the timely hitting of Jesse Basich to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Nationals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Basich called the win "a collective effort."
