Philadelphia Beats New York, 2-1
|
The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets put on a pitchers' duel.
No one was more impactful than Josh Hensley in the 2-1 Philadelphia win over New York. Hensley, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2041 draft, was 3 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. James Woods Jr., who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 13-4. Josh Cornishen closed the door for Philadelphia, picking up his 20th save of the year.
With Philadelphia leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Hensley hit a curveball from Steve Kelly for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 2-0.
"Josh is still learning," said Phillies manager Paul Husch. "The sky's the limit for him."
The Phillies saw their record improve to 41-54.
