Phillies Topple Mets, 9-5
|
The Philadelphia Phillies topped the New York Mets by the score of 9-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Eric Katz. Katz went 2-4 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Phillies on the day. Josh Cornishen collected save number 21. With the win, the Phillies improved to 42-54.
Katz came through with some timely hitting for Philadelphia. With New York trailing 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Katz hit a full count slider for a bases-clearing double. His 18th double of the season made it 5-3, Philadelphia.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Katz.
