Great Effort by Jank Wasted in 8-6 Mets Loss
|
The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets completed their game despite the rain.
The New York Mets got a sterling performance from first baseman Jeff Jank, but the Philadelphia Phillies still prevailed, 8-6. Jank belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Philadelphia pitcher James Woods Jr. got the win. He's now 15-5. Apostolos Tsatsos was tagged with the loss. Josh Cornishen notched his 24th save in 27 chances.
Ryan Trombley swatted a 3-run home run for Philadelphia in the bottom of the third. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 3.
"We'll savor this win," Trombley told the Philadelphia Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
Philadelphia is now riding a 3-game win streak.
