Extra-Inning Win by Mariners Over Rangers
|
The Texas Rangers got a superb performance from pitcher Kevin Ovens-Toots. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Seattle. The Mariners won the game, 5-3. Ovens-Toots threw 8.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Seattle now sits in third place in the American League West Division at 53-57.
Seattle used the clutch hitting of Floyd-William Goof to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Mariners ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Texas manager Juan Smith III.
