Late Rally by Cardinals Locks Up 5-3 Win
|
St. Louis picked up a win at Busch Stadium, toppling the San Francisco Giants, 5-3. Pitcher John Fisher was one of the reasons the Cardinals triumphed. David Murphy, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Earning his 14th save of the year was Bryan Banana.
St. Louis took a 5-3 lead on Antoine Roux's 17th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off San Francisco pitcher Filip Nebylitsin in the bottom of the eighth.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said St. Louis manager Jeff Jones Jr..
San Francisco's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
