Padres Roll to 8-2 Win Over Brewers
|
No one was more impactful than Phil Zacharia in the 8-2 San Diego win over Milwaukee. Zacharia, who is tied for 4th in the NL with a .421 on-base percentage, was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Matt Wheeler, the winning pitcher, is now 10-10. He went 5.1 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 4. Milwaukee's current losing streak is now 4 games.
With San Diego leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Zacharia hit a knuckleball from Lewis Thorpe Jr. for a grand slam home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Padres ahead, 7-0.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Andy Pafko III.
