Dunham Goes Deep Twice, Helps Guardians Top Twins, 9-2
|
The Cleveland Guardians topped the Minnesota Twins, 9-2, in American League action at Progressive Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cleveland designated hitter Danny Dunham. The winner was Risto Pandev, who threw 110 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. Cleveland is now 52-69, Minnesota 52-70.
With Cleveland leading 4-0 in the bottom of the second, Dunham came up to bat against Minnesota pitcher Jack Overbeek. Dunham hit a screwball to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season put the Guardians on top, 7-0.
"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Guardians manager Bersha Nainco.
