Twins Stay Hot, Beat Red Sox, 2-0
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox. Minnesota won it, 2-0. Minnesota starter Nigel Turner was in command. The winning pitcher was Turner, now 4-2. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Mark Case earned the save for Minnesota, his 2nd of the year.
Minnesota relied on the hitting of Hildo Pot to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Twins on top, 2-0. For the game, Pot had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Runs were at a premium," said Minnesota manager Jorge G Twins.
The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Twins.
