Mets Pick Up 4-2 Road Win Over San Diego
|
The San Diego Padres got a sterling performance from pitcher Adam Thompson, but the New York Mets still prevailed, 4-2. Thompson threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball. The Mets move to 64-71 with the win, while the Padres drop to 67-70.
New York used the timely hitting of Kevin Bellman to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mets on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll try to build on that win," Bellman told the New York Daily.
