Giants Lose By a Run at Los Angeles, 4-3
|
Los Angeles and San Francisco duked it out and the Dodgers came out victorious.
The San Francisco Giants got a superb performance from pitcher Tim Welshman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Los Angeles. The Dodgers won the game, 4-3. Welshman threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. J.P. Blair got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Giants to 3 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Picking up the save was Justin Scheithauer, his 1st.
In the bottom of the fifth, Los Angeles designated hitter Juan Concepcion had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Concepcion stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 4-3, Los Angeles. For the game, he went 1 for 4.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Concepcion told the Los Angeles Bulletin.
The win puts Los Angeles at 55-84.
