Cardinals Get One-Run Win at Philadelphia
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter John Fisher turned in an exceptional performance against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, resulting in a St. Louis win, 3-2. Fisher, now 4-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 10, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The 'W' lifts St. Louis's record to 62-76.
Ichiro Toyota, the speedster , had a direct impact on the outcome. Toyota contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put St. Louis up, 2-1.
Afterward, Cardinals manager Jeff Jones Jr. was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
