Nationals Topple Braves, 7-4
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves.
The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Turner Field, knocking off the Atlanta Braves, 7-4. On the mound for Washington was right-hander Oleg Bahanov, who played a pivotal role in the win. Bahanov, now 4-15, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Travis Plesz recorded the save for Washington, his 12th of the season.
Washington relied on the hitting of Dillon Gonzalez to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Nationals on top, 5-1. For the game, Gonzalez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Gonzalez. "More importantly, I had a good game."
Today's win puts Washington at 54-84, while Atlanta falls to 75-64.
