Royals Beat Seattle, 4-3
|
The Kansas City Royals wiggled past the Seattle Mariners, 4-3, at Safeco Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Kansas City pitcher John Hall. The winner was Yorinobu Noguchi in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Greg Burngooch took the loss. Kansas City is now riding a 4-game win streak.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Mike Jaquez to capture the win. The second baseman socked a solo home run in the top of the 16th inning to put the Royals ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 7 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Seattle manager Aaron Schiff said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
