Cleveland got a terrific performance from pitcher Ben Cole, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Tigers. Detroit won the Comerica Park contest, 8-7. Cole threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Franz Holzknecht picked up the win in relief for Detroit, while Ben Sedlacek took the loss. The loss makes Cleveland 60-87.

Detroit won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Ben Sedlacek on the mound for Cleveland, center fielder Victor Quinones hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Tigers fans to their feet.

"Winning never gets dull," said Quinones.
