Reds Throttle Brewers, 5-1
|
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-1, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati shortstop Saulo Maina had a superb performance. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Edwin Pacheco, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 4-9. The Reds raised their record to 63-85.
In the bottom of the sixth, Chris Grunwald delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Cincinnati first baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Reds in front, 5-1.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Grunwald. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
