Tigers Suffer 5-2 Setback
|
The Minnesota Twins defeated the Detroit Tigers, 5-2, in American League action at Target Field. Minnesota pitcher Jack Overbeek had a standout performance. Willie Nieto was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 7 save opportunities. The Twins now have a record of 68-89.
In the bottom of the eighth, Minnesota second baseman J.J. Powers gave his team the lead. With no one out and the bases loaded, Otter hit his 10th triple of the year. Detroit pitcher Joe Bradford surrendered it. With that, the Twins jumped in front, 4-2.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Powers told the Minnesota Gazette.
