Luvisi Powers Nationals Offense
|
The San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Jeff Luvisi was a vital contributor to the 8-4 Washington victory over San Francisco. The Nationals right fielder went 3-3 with 3 singles and 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Danny Diaz got the win, improving to 13-13. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2.
With Washington leading 4-3 in the top of the fifth, Luvisi hit a 2-run single off San Francisco hurler Tyler Stancil. It was the 155th hit of the season for Luvisi and put his team ahead, 6-3.
"We came out aggressive," said Nationals manager Mike Shore. "We came out swinging the bats."
The Nationals go to 63-96 with the win.
