Orioles Come Up Short at Montreal, 5-4
|
The Montreal Expos defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4, at Quebecor Stadium. Mike Salmon was a standout performer for Montreal. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 double, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 3 he knocked in. Jakub Kvacek closed it out for his 36th save. Montreal is now 90-72, while Baltimore is 72-90.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fifth when Salmon, who finished 4th in the NL in OPS with 1.117 in 2041, hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Expos into the lead, 4-2.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Salmon. "And not try to do too much."
