Bernal Goes Distance in 6-1 Win
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Atlanta Braves were eager to watch Curt Stevens square off against Felix Bernal of the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. In the end, the Pirates won the game, 6-1, with Felix Bernal leading the way.
Bernal was in the zone all game. He frustrated Atlanta hitters while giving the Pirates 9 innings of quality work. Bernal threw 102 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 8 punchouts.
"I'll be honest," said Bernal. "I was running on fumes at the end."
