Rangers Topple Royals, 11-5, as Kaiser Shines
|
The Texas Rangers knocked off the Kansas City Royals, 11-5, at Kauffman Stadium. Butch Kaiser was a big reason Texas won. The designated hitter went 3-3 with 3 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Texas starter Kelly Goosecock was credited with the win after throwing 116 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Kevin Cushman picked up the save, his 1st.
Kaiser contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Texas in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Kaiser took a fastball from Jimmy Silveira IV and stroked the double to right. His 3rd double of the season allowed the Rangers to leap in front, 6-4.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Kaiser. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
The Rangers, now 4-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
