Red Sox Take Down Yankees, 3-2
|
The Boston Red Sox got a stellar performance from pitcher Justin Whitesack, who handcuffed the New York offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Fenway Park. Boston reliever Zack McGovern was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Joel Pacheco. Boston, now 6-2, is setting the league on fire so far.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 3rd and two out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when designated hitter Robbie Rogers, who led the AL in stolen bases with 103 in 2042, hit a run-scoring single. The Red Sox went on to win.
Rogers called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
