Brewers Win at Atlanta, 7-3
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Atlanta Braves take on the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Atlanta Braves, 7-3, at Turner Field. Milwaukee first baseman Dave Gonzalez had an outstanding performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Milwaukee reliever Mark Hincks, now 1-0. The loser was Nolan Stefanski.
The Braves had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Brewers going into the top of the third inning. That changed quickly when the speedster Lewis Thorpe Jr. came to the plate. Thorpe Jr. hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 slider from Atlanta hurler Nolan Stefanski. It was Thorpe Jr.'s 5th double of the year.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Thorpe Jr. said.
Milwaukee is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 3rd win in 13 games.
