Extra-Inning Win by Red Sox Over Guardians
|
Boston starter Reece Nichols put a stranglehold on the Cleveland offense. The right-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Red Sox to a 3-1 win. Boston reliever Elijah Daniels picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Kyle Ehret absorbed the loss. Guadalupe Vasguez closed the game out for Boston, earning his 4th save.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Ben Ervin to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-1. For the game, Ervin had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Ervin told the Boston Citizen.
The Guardians continue "in the red" at 5-11.
