Pirates Top Marlins to Even Record
|
Pittsburgh pitcher Felix Bernal did his part in helping his team beat the Miami Marlins, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Bernal went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 3-0. Jeremy Kennie recorded the save for Pittsburgh, his 3rd of the season.
Eisse Bravenboer, who is a six-time All-Star, came through for Pittsburgh with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. The catcher went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 runs batted in.
"I like winning," Bernal told the Pittsburgh Daily News. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
The loss makes the Marlins 6-9.
