Multi-HR Day for Ottinger as Mariners Overpower Twins, 8-5
|
The 8-5 Seattle win over Minnesota was due largely to Corey Ottinger. The Mariners second baseman hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Larry Tuckfard. His record is now 2-0. The left-hander went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits for the Mariners. David Anaya picked up the save for Seattle, his 2nd of the year.
In the first inning, Ottinger had a 2-run home run for Seattle. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Mariners on top, 3-0.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Ottinger told the Seattle Citizen.
For the Twins, the loss makes their record 7-13.
